The first symptom of gum infection is bleeding. The condition will become even more apparent with discoloration as well as shape distortion of the gums and bad breath. Many more teeth are lost due to gum infections than to cavities. Most important of all, healthy gums have a pink color. They adhere to the teeth and jaw and have a shiny appearance resembling an orange peel.
