Wisdom teeth are the molars at the rearmost end of the mouth. These teeth erupt at roughly age 18-24. During the eruption of wisdom teeth, pain, swelling, limited movement of the jaw and earaches may occur. Wisdom teeth may be extracted if they pose a risk of abscess at the root or if they threaten oral hygiene.
